Getting Started with GigRusher for Employers

GigRusher is a gig marketplace that connects employers with local workers for day labor, short-term gigs, and recurring jobs. This guide walks you through every step — from creating your account to hiring your first worker.

How GigRusher Works for Employers

The platform is built around a simple loop:

  1. You create an account and set up your organization
  2. You post a job with clear details and pay
  3. Workers in your city discover it and apply
  4. You review applicants, accept the best fit, and get your project done

No staffing agencies, no contracts, no monthly fees. You post what you need, and qualified workers come to you.

Step 1: Create Your Account

GigRusher uses passwordless sign-in — no passwords to create or remember.

  1. Go to gigrusher.com/signup
  2. Enter your first name, last name, and email address
  3. Click Create Account
  4. Check your inbox for a magic link (a one-click sign-in link sent to your email)
  5. Click the link in your email — you're signed in

Every time you return to GigRusher, you sign in the same way: enter your email on the login page, click the magic link, and you're in. No passwords to forget.

Tip: Add noreply@gigrusher.com to your contacts so the magic link email doesn't end up in spam.

Step 2: Set Up Your Organization

Once signed in, go to your Employer Dashboard. If you haven't created an organization yet, you'll see a prompt to complete your profile.

Click Set Up Organization and fill in:

  • Business Name — your company or trade name
  • Description — a few sentences about what you do (e.g., "Licensed general contractor specializing in residential renovations across DFW")
  • City — select from GigRusher's supported markets: Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio, Atlanta, or Denver
  • State — auto-populated based on city selection
  • Contact Email — where workers can reach you with questions
  • Phone (optional) — direct line for urgent communications
  • Website (optional) — adds credibility to your profile

Workers see your organization profile when they browse your job listings. A complete, professional profile attracts better applicants.

Step 3: Post Your First Job

From the Employer Dashboard, click Post a Job. Here's what makes a strong listing:

Title

Be specific. Good examples:

  • "2 Movers Needed — Saturday 8AM in North Dallas"
  • "Landscaping Crew for Weekly Yard Maintenance"
  • "Warehouse Sorter — Weeknight Shifts, $17/hr"

Avoid vague titles like "Help Wanted" or "Worker Needed."

Description

Tell workers exactly what they'll be doing. Include:

  • The specific tasks (e.g., "Load furniture onto truck, drive to new location, unload and place items per client instructions")
  • Physical requirements ("Must be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly")
  • What you provide vs. what they bring ("We supply all tools and safety equipment")

Category

Choose the category that best matches the work:

  • Moving & Hauling — local moves, furniture delivery, junk removal
  • Cleaning — residential or commercial cleaning
  • Day Labor — general labor, construction help, manual work
  • Delivery & Driving — courier, package delivery, driving
  • Landscaping & Yard Work — lawn care, tree trimming, outdoor maintenance
  • Warehouse & Logistics — sorting, packing, warehouse operations
  • Events & Catering — event set up, catering, hospitality
  • Handyman & Repairs — painting, plumbing, electrical, home repair
  • Retail & Customer Service — sales, cashier, customer-facing
  • Server & Hospitality — waitstaff, bartender, hotel positions
  • Pet Care — dog walking, pet sitting, animal care

Pay Details

Set your pay type:

  • Hourly — best for flexible-length gigs (e.g., $18/hour)
  • Daily — flat rate for a full day of work (e.g., $150/day)
  • Fixed — set price for the entire project (e.g., $500 total)
  • Per Task — payment per completed unit (e.g., $20 per delivery)

Set a minimum and optional maximum pay amount. Competitive pay fills positions faster.

Job Type

  • Same-day — need someone today
  • Day labor — one-off, one to a few days
  • Gig — flexible, short engagement
  • Short-term — multi-day or multi-week project
  • Recurring — ongoing weekly or monthly work

Urgency

  • Urgent — filling today or tomorrow
  • Normal — this week
  • Flexible — no rush, open timeline

Requirements & Skills

List what's needed — experience level, physical fitness, certifications, transportation requirements. Be honest: if no experience is needed, say so. You'll get more (and often more motivated) applicants.

Step 4: Review & Manage Applicants

When workers apply, you'll see their applications in the Employer Dashboard. For each applicant you can review:

  • Name and contact information
  • Cover message — their intro about why they're a good fit
  • Resume (if they uploaded one)
  • Application status — pending, screening, interview, offer, hired, or rejected

From the Applicants view, you can:

  • Accept a worker for the position
  • Reject applicants who aren't the right fit
  • View all applicants across all your open positions at /employer/applicants

What to look for

  • A clear, professional message — workers who take time to write a few sentences tend to be more reliable
  • Relevant experience — but don't overlook eager beginners for entry-level work
  • Quick response time — workers who applied soon after posting tend to be very motivated

Step 5: Manage Your Jobs

Your Employer Dashboard at /employer/jobs shows all your listings with status tracking:

  • Active — live and accepting applications
  • Paused — temporarily hidden from search
  • Closed — position filled or no longer needed
  • Draft — saved but not yet published

You can edit, pause, or close jobs at any time.

Tips for Hiring Success on GigRusher

Write Clear Job Descriptions

The more detail you provide, the better your applicants. Workers self-select when they know exactly what's expected.

Pay Competitively

Check what similar jobs in your area pay. For Dallas day labor, competitive ranges are:

  • General labor: $15–18/hour
  • Skilled labor: $20–28/hour
  • Supervisory: $25–35/hour

Respond Quickly

The best workers get snapped up fast. Review applications within hours, not days.

Rehire Good Workers

Found someone great? Post recurring gigs or reach out to them for future work. Consistency benefits both sides.

Be Specific About Logistics

Tell workers exactly where to go (address, parking instructions), what to wear (steel-toe boots, closed-toe shoes), and what time to arrive. Fewer surprises means smoother jobs.
